Jones Stroud Insulations - Timeline
William and Horace Jones teamed up with A. E. Stroud to start a textile company in Market Place, Long Eaton, Nottingham. Horace Jones designed a braiding machine.
Larger premises were purchased in Long Eaton and called Vida Mills. The trade name Vida soon came to stand for high-grade narrow fabrics.
About 3,000 braiding machines were in service producing approx. 52 million metres of elastic braid per annum.
William and Horace Jones founded the manufacture of narrow glass tapes and woven fabrics for electrical and engineering applications.
Jones Stroud purchased Insulating Sleevings and Tapes (IST)
The “Queens Mill” textile factory in Longridge, near Preston was purchased to create a base for new production facilities with adequate room for further expansion. Soon after, the braiding machines were moved to Longridge
The mica and prepreg operations of ”Micanite and Insulators”, based in Trafford Park, Manchester, were acquired and subsequently integrated into the Longridge plant.
Weaving looms transferred from Long Eaton to Longridge.
High speed braiding machine introduced to the Longridge site.

State of the art high speed mica line commissioned.
High speed prepreg facility added into a purpose build area.
New Analytical facility introduced.
New Quality Control Laboratory added and Analytical facility updated with high voltage / thermal testing capabilities.
Second high speed mica line commissioned.
